DESPERATE FINALE DOWNSIZED

The explosive finale of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES will end with a bang - a small one.

As the hit ABC show approached the climax of Season 6, desperate producers struggled to keep the show from plunging into chaos as scripts were torn up and rewritten at the last minute.

The execs waffled over how to kill off shady Angie Bolen (Drea de Matteo) - before coming up with an explosive ending.

(Spoiler alert - STOP HERE if you don’t want to know more!)

As The ENQUIRER revealed, scenes were lensed of Angie being shot gangland-style, while another potential scenario called for her to be blown up in her house.

Now, The ENQUIRER has learned, execs decided on a different - and more economical - demise for Drea’s character.

The new version of Angie’s death has her killed in a Toyota Prius!

“It’s basically a money saving move,” revealed the insider.

It turned out to be too costly to blow up a real house or even do it with computer-generated imagery.

“So they decided to end Drea’s stay on Wisteria Lane by blowing her up in a Prius,” the insider divulged.
