Albert Bartlett’s rooster potato brand is to take to the small screen for the second period of its campaign with Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross.

Launching on 4 October and running until Christmas the new campaign see’s Cross again team up with her eager agent (actor David Shatraw) for a new project.

The story line follows on from last year’s commercial which saw the agent try to convince Marcia to appear in an Albert Bartlett Rooster Potato commercial.

In the new ad, TV star Marcia Cross is again being persuaded to front the potato campaign by her agent.

John Hicks, Albert Bartlett marketing manager, said: “We are delighted to be reuniting Marcia Cross and her on screen agent David Shatraw for a second campaign. Marcia’s debut in UK advertising had a fantastic impact last year, starring in our campaign which hit screens from September until Christmas 2009. Volume growth peaked at 135 per cent during the campaign and it helped the brand deliver growth of over 100 per cent in the 52 weeks ending 8 August 2010 [according to Kantar Worldpanel data].”

Hicks added: “This will also be the third TV commercial we have made with award-winning director Paul Weiland, Paul and our creative team have again delivered an advert which is fun, memorable and crucially delivers all our key messages. We continue to target younger consumers and this creative allows us to deliver on this while still being relevant to the core fresh potato customer.”

ABC has been baiting us all summer with amazing casting announcements for the seventh season of “Desperate Housewives.” Viewers and critics were thrilled with the idea that The Lane would be getting the shot in the arm it needed. Did they pull it off?

We learned that Mark Moses was returning to reprise his role as Paul Young last season, but since then Vanessa Williams and Brian Austin Green signed on. Not to mention, tonight’s big treats: Harriet Sansom Harris as Felicia Tilman and Lainie Kazan as Susan’s (Teri Hatcher) entrepreneurial landlord.

  • * Paul Young’s return in the premiere episode is exceptionally strong. His storyline is tight and makes every sense in the show’s world. The best part about it is that he is very clear that his motive is to punish his neighbors for not supporting him during his trial and subsequent decade or so he was in prison. You know when The Lane’s big bad is quick to disclose his intentions, then there’s going to be much more to the storyline. And that “much more’s” name is Felicia Tilman. Did anyone else think that was a genius new layer to Paul’s story? Who do you think will accomplish their evil plan first?
